We used this business 3 years ago to do a major strip/clean/stain job on our deck. They did everything as asked and the price was lower than I expected at the time. Very timely service. This year, they contacted us and offered a maintenance stain job. They just now cleaned it nicely. They are on top of things. This picture is the power wash prior to staining.

We didn't get service from these guys, but one of their vans nearly ran us off the road trying to swerve and pass the fella turning in the lane next to us. Completely unnecessary and dangerous driving. Easily going 50 mph in a 30

Not sure they know what they are doing. I had them come to my home which has a really particular type of decking a few years back. Apparently the type of decking I have is an exotic wood (I tried to tell them this as it needs special treatment for the staining and sealing). Their product they use washed off after several months. I would never use them again.

Not great customer service. They've done my deck twice and the finish severely peeled the next spring both times. The first time they kindly redid it, but this spring I'm on my own. Don't feel like paying $800+ when they can't tell me if it will happen again. Their warranty specifically states that it won't peel. You can never talk to someone. They just send you an email and don't follow through. If they'd work with me to determine why it peeled I'd be happy to pay them this year.

Looks great!.but doesn't last AT ALL. I initially reached out to RTD late Spring of 2017. Their Estimator was easy to talk to and their materials gave good details about the process. I waited until the end of the season to book and was put on the schedule for October. They completed step 1 but unfortunately, the weather turned suddenly and I figured that would cause them to postpone until the following Spring but they still came out to finish the job in cold and rainy/snowy weather.

Both my decks turned out great. Fast forward 6-7 months to Spring- the snow has melted and I'm able to see how well RTD's work held up. I was not at all surprised to see that the "stain" had peeled away with the melting snow. I contacted RTD to let them know the (weather) conditions under which they completed the job and that apparently it should have been postponed because it didn't hold up.

They agreed to return to reapply in late June / early July. Again, the completed job looks great. Nine months later, snow melts and AGAIN, their product has peeled off. My decks look like they were done three years ago, not 9 months ago. This was not at all worth the money

A very disappointing experience. I met with the owner who outlined how we could highlight the house with the holiday lights. We decided on wrapping a few trees in the yard and highlighting the roof line and placing a large wreath above the garage, not a complicated project. We negotiated a price. They came to install the lights and informed me that they couldn't install the roof lights because my roof was frozen, image that in December in Minnesota.

I was never told that they couldn't install their lights if my roof was frozen. At that point it was suggested that I just wrap the trees. Didn't make sense to put up the wreath up if they couldn't outline the roof line. Very disappointing since this was a surprise for my wife. They returned a few weeks after the new year to take down the lights but never let me know that they were going to remove them.

Overall very poor execution of what the initial plan was and they didn't offer any viable alternative or didn't seem interested to making sure the customer was happy with the results.

Roof to Deck put Christmas lights on our 50' evergreen. The lights are a mix of white and colored. It's spectacular and the entire neighborhood came out for the lighting. This our second year and we'll be repeat customers for the next dozen years.

Use CAUTION when using this company. Our experience has been nothing but frustrating and unfair. We signed their contract and gave them money in spring of 2016. Young, inexperienced guys in their late teens early 20's just showed up at random times to stain the deck in 2 - 3 hour increments in a span of 3 - 4 months. Twice they did this hours after it rained.

The job was complete in October 2016. By spring of 2018 (18 months of stain application) we contacted the company to get a refund and after several weeks heard back from the owner whom told us that it had been past the 2 year mark of a refund (In reality the deck had not been complete for 2 years but the time of signed contract to present had been, so.they got us.).

We refused his offer to re-stain the deck at a discount. His reply back to us was, "this is what's wrong with America". We ended the conversation and have been stewing at the poor business practices, communication, craftsmanship and product we experienced with this company ever since. I don't know HOW they have so many good reviews (which is why we chose them in the first place) but for that reason we felt that we needed to share our experience.

Their crew arrived in two vans and a car; a crew of five guys. They stood around smoking before they started to work, some of them just leaving their cigarette butts on the asphalt. Others throw their cigarette butts into the residential trash bins. Eventually, the head of the crew got the guys going, taking all of the crew members five minutes to get one ladder off one of the vans.

The head of the crew did all the work on the deck, while the others stood around smoking or playing on their phones. The job looks good, however, so I suppose this was a crew "in-training." The head of the crew seemed to be explaining things as he went along. While this was not my deck, but my neighbor's deck, I still would be hesitant to hire a crew like this.

I had a new cedar deck built and contacted Roof to Deck to do the staining. I contacted them after waiting 2 years as recommended by my builder. It looked beautiful after it was stained, but over the first year, the stain didn't last, particularly on the railings but on the actual deck flooring as well. It was like the stain just sat on the wood and didn't permeate the wood so the least bit of movement of furniture would cause the stain to come off.

With the two year warranty, I thought that they would make good, but they only agreed to do the railings. But the same thing happened a year after it was done. I have unsightly areas on the railings where the stain has faded and unsightly round patches of fading, just like the first year it was done. Called and spoke to management and they said they already fulfilled the warranty and they wouldn't do more than that. I understand that decks need to be redone every 3 years or so, but their staining job didn't last over a year.

Helpful from beginning to end. Helped design a beautiful holiday light display that complimented, but didn't overwhelm our home and property. Friendly & knowledgable staff. Checked in many times to make sure everything was working and to understand our needs. Very flexible and friendly. Excellent at what they do. Looking forward to next year with them.

I was very disappointed with the results from Roof to Deck! We hired RTD to strip and stain our deck. First, they killed my 10+ foot lilac bush after I was told it wouldn't need to be covered since they use only environmentally friendly products. All the leaves turned black and completely dried out. I now have a huge stump where I used to have a beautiful bush. Next, they didn't remove all the old stain, but stained over it.

After coming out a third time, they still didn't remove all the old stain. Some spots were sanded so the new stain is significantly darker on those spots. The customer service team was very nice, but in the end, I would NEVER hire this company again. Very expensive mistake on our part. Buyer beware, I guess.

Roof to Deck did a great job at our consultation, and gave me the Holiday Lights that I've always dreamed of! Reason for 4 Stars instead of 5- there was a minor issue at installation, but it was addressed in a timely manor and I was still pleased with the overall outcome. Lights went out once and it was a very easy fix that we were able to do on our own. We'll be back for sure!

Roof-to-Deck was terrific. They were fast to respond by both telephone and email and provided estimate of services within hours of request. The workers were courteous and created a beautiful, artful display of lights on the roof and several trees adjacent to the house. We received many compliments from holiday visitors and would not hesitate to use this company again.

We like the idea of not having to store or purchase new holiday lights. Is the cost fair? I do not know- we did not receive estimates from other companies nor did we look. We have used Roof-to-Deck twice and have been quite pleased with the workmanship.

Roof to Deck Decoration is absolutely the best Christmas lighting installers around. If you need a company to create a wonderful holiday lighting display or simple christmas lights, then call Roof to Deck Decoration. They are easy to work with and their work is absolutely beautiful. I will go to no one else when I need a company to install my Christmas lights (or holiday display for that matter).

My home is a craftsman, one-story stucco; above the stucco are three areas of cedar shingles. Over the years, the cedar has become darkened and it certainly needed a fresh look! I accepted Roof-to-Deck's bid $1648.00 to strip, clean and restain the shingles. The singles were originally dipped in a solid stain to match the light beige stucco. My first mistake: When the Roof-to-Deck representative came to look at the home, I didn't have the foresight to ask him if the stain they would be applying would match the house!

It was only after Roof-to-Deck stripped the cedar shingles that I read that the color offerings of the stains: Cedar, Redwood, Honey and Organic Brown. (Wouldn't the rep have shared that with me?) These colors would not even come close to matching the stucco. I live in a community in which we must have any exterior changes to the house approved.

Believe me, none of these colors would be approved! When I emailed Roof-to-Deck to let them know that their stains would not be acceptable, I inquired about a solid stain possibilities. I was told that their company could not apply another company's product. I then emailed that I did not want them come back to apply the stain. I wrote that I would be hiring a painter to apply a solid stain.

The email response I received back indicated that I will be charged $1.069.00 of the $1648.00 charge. Therefore, the hourly rate for a 20-year old (who has done this type of work for only his second summer) to come for 3 hours is $356.33. Second mistake: I didn't know a professional painter could have prewashed the shingles and then applied a matching stain (we know the color name and number) for significantly less!

In fact, the painter's estimate for a prewash and stain is $900.00. Note that my painter wants to prewash the shingles again because there are spots which were missed; he feels that the stain would peel if not done again. Third mistake: Hiring Roof-to-Deck.

Ok, let me start off by saying that there were ups and downs using Roof To Deck. I am giving a 4 star as it ended on a high note and the deck looks beautiful. I understand that companies like this are going to have problems with scheduling and sometimes even craftsmanship, there's no getting around it, no one is perfect. But it is my belief that it is almost as important how a company reacts to a customer issue as to how many they have.

When I originally contacted RTD it was a middle of the road quote, but their estimator was friendly and knowledgeable so I called to set up a time. I needed it done by a particular date. I was originally told that it would not be possible, but Lisa understood how important this was and worked with me to get it scheduled in time. The stripping of the deck was honestly amazing.

I had done it once before, by myself years ago, and only had a fraction of the success they had. A couple days had passed and a crew came out to stain. They worked all day and didn't finish. They mentioned they would be back the next day. I was a bit concerned in the work as it was uneven in some areas. I thought I'd reserve judgement until it was done though.

The second crew came out, and possibly used a slightly different color. I probably could have lived with the variations, and it probably would have blended over time, but I ended up calling RTD and talking with them. They immediately sent someone out to look at it. He spend 2 seconds looking at it and said - Don't worrry, we'll strip the whole thing and re-do it.

Less than a week later, it was done and looked perfect. I will use them again next time. They actually stand by their work. Even if they aren't the cheapest or there may be a problem, Knowing they stand behind their work is one less thing to worry about when dealing with a contractor. There is a lot of value in that.

I was very pleased with the prompt attention to a minor incompletion on our recent wash / stain. I took a picture, e- mailed it to Roof-to-Deck and next day had a tech show up and immediately fixed the problem. We're impressed and plan to use their services in the future. Thanks Roof-toDeck!

We hired Roof-toDeck to strip the gray paint off the horizontal surfaces of our deck and stain.and to re-paint the vertical surfaces. They were not the cheapest bid we got, but they gave us a comprehensive bid and seemed to know what they were doing. After the first round of cleaning/washing/staining/painting (three separate days), we were left with old gray paint under the stain, the new white paint splashed were it shouldn't have been, and absolutely no sanding of the painted surfaces (which would literally peel away if you touched them prior to being painted over).

The owner was very responsive and came out as soon as possible, took pictures, and assured us that they would be back and would walk through each step to make sure we were satisfied. Instead, they returned and worked the whole day without ever ringing the doorbell. The results were better than the first round, but still nothing close to what we expected based on the charge.

For the last round (after we called and complained again), they fixed several things that did improve the look, but there are still major issues. When they re-sanded the second time, they just spot sanded, so those surfaces are much lighter and the entire thing is splotchy and uneven. The white paint is already chipping in a few places, and I have no doubts that by the end of the summer it will already be peeling, as they did no sanding. Finally, it is just generally messy and unprofessional looking.

When I expressed these concerns and asked for a refund, the owner called and basically yelled at me.saying that I had unrealistic expectations, that we never should have tried to stain the horizontal surfaces (which they told us they could do), and that of course the stain would be uneven (which, if they had done it right the first time, it wouldn't have been).

He pointed out several times that he had tried to fix it, but clearly wasn't going to do anything further. At that point, I also had no interest in any further work, as I have zero confidence in the results. I would definitely NOT recommend going with this company.and when we need to refinish it again next summer, we will do our research first and hopefully avoid this outcome.
