I've called Thelen's several times over the past few years, and have been consistently pleased with their service. They are prompt, curteous, and professional. They've usually had the repair part with them-- I can't recall a time when I've paid them travel time back to the shop for a part (one of my pet peeves for a service call!).

Thelen Heating and Roofing made a special, sheetmetal boot to connect the range hood to the ducting going up through the roof. The complex piece involved offsets and was completed in less than two hours. The final product looked very professional and was quite reasonable in price. This was the second or third time that Thelen has been the quick and professional solution to a particular ducting problem that I presented to them.

Beware as you will be paying for drive time for the service from the time the service agent leaves their office to the time they return to the office; and not just the time they are at your house!? Absurd! Thelen's does not make you aware of this. To have a service come to adjust the fan speed of my furnace cost $200. Very disappointed -- and to top it off, their billing agent was extremely rude on the phone. There are plenty of competing businesses in this area to consider. No thanks, Thelen.

Thelen completed FOUR projects on my building totalling over $30,000. All bills were paid promptly. TWO of the projects were less than satisfactory. The mini split installation required almost $550 (out of my pocket) to local service contractors for modifactions over the next year to correct problems directly related to the Thelen installation. A zone heating modification never worked properly after a $2500 (paid) installation, Two Techs spent four hours reviewing the problem and stated that the system design was was incorrect.
The system design was done by Thelen! I told this to the technitians. For this assesment I was billed $624! I refused to pay for this "trouble call" and told them so. The office/account manager then sent this bill to a collection agency. I documented all of the problems and expenses and provided it to the management who refused to discuss the issues until I paid the collection agency. Now I am dealing with a collection agency for a $624 bill after spending $30k here.

Don't bother calling ahead to get an estimate. No matter what they 'estimate' they will find someway to charge double. When questioned as to why we were charged 4 hours labor for 2 hours of work, they quoted 'drive time' (we are 4 miles out of town) and also the time it took them to get ready for the call. Really? Ever heard of a plumber who charges you for time BEFORE they even get in their vehicle? 450 bucks for a simple gas hook up? Do not give these people your business unless you enjoy getting screwed over and then yelled at over the phone for daring to question it.

This place must be under new management - Because there's no possible way that they have stayed in business this long gauging their customers the way they do and then berating them on the phone when questioned about it. They don't appear to have ANY regard for customer retention - they simply want to get as much money out of you as possible on the first go.
Guy was at our house 2 different times for a total of 1 hr and 50 minutes - they charged us for 3.5 hrs. They were not even willing to discuss this when we called, just told us if we didn't like it we could take them to court. Please find another place to do business with.
